Chai Chha Tea

Did you know that tea comes originally from China so the word "tea" comes from there as well. Tea, in mandarin, is called cha. It is cha in Japanese, Hindi and Persian, shai in Arabic, ja in Tibetan, chai in Russian and chay in Turkish. As an Indian, especially if you are a resident of Gujarat like me, you would know of the importance of cha or tea in our daily life. It is the first thing that is consumed in the morning in almost every house that does not consume coffee. It is also something that is immediately offered in most homes you visit. If friends are meeting up, well cha kitli is the usual meeting place. So with this level of importance given to a beverage, I could not stop myself from posting a video on how to make cha or tea. This recipe shows the simple steps to make tea. For tea the basic ingredients are water and tea powder and then of course, the individual preferences play its role in whether you add sugar, milk, cinnamon powder, ginger paste, lemon grass,...

Before the first trial Before I started deciding the foods I was going to cook through these two years I had to do a survey. In this survey I was going to conduct I would be able to analyse the requirements for a teen to be interested in cooking.  I asked 4 simple questions: Do you like to cook? How many times do you cook for yourself? What encourages you to cook? What is a discourages you from cooking on a daily basis?  These 4 question were replied to by a total of 26 teenagers. I collected results which were quite similar to the reasons why I would avoid cooking.  Maximum people liked to cook. Maximum people were either cooking for themselves once in a month or once a week.   Most people were encouraged by the foods taste and the idea of having something to do/eat.   Most people were deterred from cooking due to the time it took to cook the food, the mess after cooking, and the skills required to cook. In conclusion I found th...

The First Trial

The First Trial The first week of passion project has been very exciting and at the same time it has been very fast paced. In the very first week I realized how much effort I would have to put in over the two years and how quickly I'd have to prepare for my deliverables. For the first week I was to prepare one dish which one of my friends could cook using my instructions.  For this I had to first find a dish and practice it. While brainstorming which dish would be feasible for a 16 y/o student to cook without wanting to give up,  I researched on the reasons why collegites choose to refrain from trying out cooking. I was not surprised to see  that most children were scared to try it due to the possible mess they could make,  the time it took and the fact that they didn't possess the skills to cook. These deterrents were my main guide lines to choose a dish. After a day I finalized on 'unda roti' with a cheesy schezwan twist as teenagers would enjoy eating it, it...
